Introducing Aaliyah - Profile and Photos
Profile: Aaliyah Dani Haughton
Aaliyah was born in Brooklyn, New York, January 16, 1979. This young, accomplished
singing star is 5" 7", with a marvelous 32-24-34 nubian body. A
double platinum record holder, Aaliyah's celebrity status is destined to provide
her with future Academy Awards and Oscar nominations. Aaliyah's uncle Barry
Hank was the CEO of the artist management company Blackground Enterprises.
With his direction, sucess has run within the family, and Aaliyah's career
is boundless. Ever since defining the look and sound of street-but-sweet star
singer, Aaliyah has personified originality. Her enigmatic, smooth vocal delivery,
sophisticated musical sensibilities, and a masterful sense of independence
provides true artistry. "I still remember how nervous I was right before
'Back & Forth' came out," the charismatic vocalist stated. "It
was my first single, and I kept wondering if people would accept it. When
it went gold, I had my answer, and it was just such an incredibly satisfying
feeling." At a young age, Aaliyah began preforming on stage and by the
time she was eleven, she was singing on stage in Las Vegas for a five-night
stand with Gladys Knight's troupe. The young dedicated singer would emerge
from a non-stop vocal training regimen with a sound and vision completely
her own. "It came out of nowhere, yet it felt totally natural,"
recalls Aaliyah. "I was tripped out. As that first album was coming to
a finish, I was listening back to the tracks thinking, Wow, that's really
me. This is how I am and how I sound."
Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. The music industry and her many admirers are mourning her loss at the very young age of 22.
