Introducing Elizabeth Berkley - Profile and Photos
Profile: Elizabeth Berkley
Born July 28, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan, Elizabeth is a
star actress, dancer, and television performer. Elizabeth made her mark in
the acting world on television when she played Jessie on the now famous "Saved
by the Bell". Her next stop was the Hollywood world when she made the
leap to the bigtime in the feature film "Showgirls". Elizabeth had
many acting classes for a future career in her childhood. So, she was very
prepared when she got the role of Jessie Spano, a smart conservative teenage
girl, on "Saved By The Bell". She played the role for almost the
full run of the show, and earned many fans during this time. This attribute
served her well when she was to make her big screen debut in 1995. As a child,
and in her early years, Elizabeth also took many dancing and technique classes
in addition to her acting training. Paul Verhoeven offered her the lead role
as an exotic dancer in his 1995 "Showgirls". This production was
a dazzling, thought-provoking exposure drama about dancing and showbiz. Elizabeth
happily accepted the role, and she was very eager to show her dancing talents,
in combination with her already well known acting talent. In this role, Berkley
is very proud, saying, "I've been preparing for this role my whole life.
Like Nomi, I can't live without dance in my life." After "Showgirls",
Elizabeth appeared in various other roles, including Hugh Wilson's "First
Wive's Club", Tom DiCillo's "The Real Blonde", Avi Nesher's
"Taxman", and Christine Lucas' "Last Call". Elizabeth
once sat next to a man on an international flight who watched her in "Show
Girls" on his in-seat video screen and never recognized her.
