Introducing Meg Ryan - Profile and Photos
Profile: Meg Ryan
Meg was born on November 19, 1961, in Fairfield, Connecticut.
She is a actress and film superstar. Meg is the daughter of two well educated
teachers, with her mother a former actress and casting director. Meg did not
intend on becoming the box office super star that she is known as today. Her
original intentions were to persue a journalism career. Meg graduated from
Bethel High School, where she had been a former homecoming queen. She continued
her academic studies at the University of Connecticut, and to pay for her
tuition, Meg did acting in several commercials. Her mother helped her become
a member of the Screen Actors Guild, under her maiden name, and thus, 'Meg
Ryan' is the star we know today.
Meg's film debut was with Candice Bergen in Rich and Famous, and with it's success, she decided to leave behind her journalistic studies. Meg's first real professional roles were on the small-screen, with roles in an After School Special, 'Amy the Angel', and appearances on the comedy 'Charles in Charge'. She also became a regular on the daytime soap, 'As the World Turns'. The series, 'Wildside' was the last of Meg's television acting, and the one that would quickly be overshadowed by her present status as Hollywood's Sweetheart. After a role in "Amityville III: The Demon", moviegoers would catch a glimpse of the blonde, perky actress in "Top Gun", as Goose's wife. Meg's big claim to fame, came with a starring role in "When Harry Met Sally", co-starring with Billy Crystal. Her scene stealing fake orgasm in the middle of a restaurant practically locked Meg into Hollywood's "A" list of up-and-coming star's. The Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks team started when the two paired up to star in "Joe Versus the Volcano" and again in "Sleepless in Seattle". Both were huge box office hits. Also, in the early 90's, came "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "French Kiss". Meg made notable performances in "Restoration, Courage Under Fire", and the animated feature, "Anastasia". In 1999, Meg teamed up again with Tom Hanks to star in "You've Got Mail".
Along with her acting duties, Meg is also founder of her own production company, Prufrock Pictures, as well as the mother of her son, Jack Henry, with Dennis Quaid. Meg first met Dennis Quaid on the set of 1987's "Innerspace" and their marriage ended in divorce during the summer of 2000. After a starring role in 1999's "Hanging Up", Meg was then seen in "Proof of Life", with co-star, Russell Crowe. Her later projects include "Kate & Leopold", and a remake of the 1939 classic, "The Women", co-starring fellow Hollywood sweetheart, Julia Roberts.
As an A-list and box-office attracting star, Meg Ryan has proved to be lovable, both on and off-screen, and certainly has consummated her viewer appeal as a female superstar actress.
